Sometimes, I wear pleather shorts and skirts and jackets and pretend they are not fake.
“Help me, I’m poor.” I’m saying that in a Kristin Wiig-esque voice, a’la Bridesmaids. That’s what I usually think when I run my fingers across real leather. It smells so good. It feels so good. Watch out, Jason, I might leave you for leather. It’s the perfect transitional piece from fall to summer, because it’s the perfect texture for mixing.
Until I can afford real leather, though, I suppose I can settle for faux.
This pleather skirt from Forever21 is really cute, and it isn’t too hot because of the shape. I adore midi-length skirts, so of course I snapped this one up for under $30 the minute I spotted it a couple of weeks ago.
Rarely do I think settling for something less than the real deal is ok. For example, if you want a puppy, but you get a fish instead because it’s low maintenance. Or, maybe you buy Panburger Partner instead of Hamburger Helper, or really any of the things listed in this BuzzFeed article. (I won’t talk about marriage and dating. Let’s keep this lighthearted, folks.)
Faux leather has some up sides. If you spill something on it, it can be wiped off easily. If you damage it, [where I buy it from] is pretty cheap so it’s replaceable, and hey, no one is the wiser unless they rub their face against you… like a cat.
I also got these shorts at F21, and I was kind of skeptical at first. Pleather shorts are almost an oxymoron. Pleather in the summer but not fall yet? Shorts? Well, I live on the edge, and Personally, I think these worked out nicely with this top from Old Navy.
Now, I did wear some faux leather in my last post, and while that specific top is sold out, Forever21 has some great alternatives.
Let’s talk about it. How do you feel about faux leather as we transition in to fall? Be on the look out, because more will be coming from me…
(Note: For the easily offended, I wouldn’t really leave my husband for leather. I felt compelled to add that.)
